Carnival Cruise

We just got back from our first ever cruise! It was really fun. We went on the Carnival Elation from San Diego to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. Kathy (my sister) and her husband Bill, and Ron (my brother) and his girlfriend Mary went with us. It was great having them there to do stuff with, and to show us the ropes. We ate lots and lots and lots of wonderful food!!! I probably gained 5 pounds! But we also walked and walked and walked. Catalina Island was beautiful, and the weather was cool and cloudy (my favorite kind of weather)! It was fun walking around the city of Avalon, and seeing some unique architecture. Ensenada was warm and sunny, and we walked forever!! It was bigger than I expected, otherwise it was like most other tourist towns in Mexico. The ship was fun. There were crazy noisy places to party, eat, and have fun. But my favorite places were where I could get away from the crowds and have peace and quiet. Like on the top deck in the early morning or late night. We liked looking out at the ocean and stars and full moon. Our room was really nice and comfy and cozy. We had two portholes to look out, and to give us natural light in the room. I didn't really get seasick, but the rolling made me feel a little woozy sometimes. I liked when we were in a port, and the ship stayed still! The shows were okay, the activities were fun, but the food was amazing (especially the "Warm Chocolate Melting Cake" - I had to have it every night for dessert!) The waiters were the best, so funny and helpful. All in all we had a great time!! I might have to consider doing a cruise again some day. Enjoy the pictures.

The elephant! So adorable.

Mary was freezing on the shuttle boat to Catalina Island.

Leaving the ship for Catalina. What a beautiful day.

A view of the ship as we were going to Catalina on a shuttle boat.

A cute old fashioned phone booth in a little shopping area on Catalina. Gary almost couldn't get out, it was so small.

A view of one of the many shuttle boats.

Entering Ensenada.

This is the biggest flag I have ever seen! It must be the size of a football field. The pole is enormous!!

Watching the ship pull out of Ensenada at night. Such a beautiful view of the city lights. And so peaceful, except for the sound of the sea lions barking on shore!

This is one of the trophies we won for a trivia game. It's a geniune 14 carat plastic ship on a stick!!

Can you tell how excited Gary is that we won?

Our awesome and amazing waiters, Craig from Jamaica, and Roz from Romania. They were the best!!

Thanksgiving

Since hardly any my kids could come to Thanksgiving dinner this year, my sister volunteered to have our family Thanksgiving dinner at her house, since all of her kids and their families were going to be in town! It was so nice not to have all of the work getting everything ready!! All I had to do was make a salad, punch, and bring some ice. Thanks Kathy, Mom, and Ron for doing so much of the cooking and setting up! Wow, I could get used to this! But I do miss having leftovers. Maybe I'll cook a turkey next week so we can have some turkey sandwiches!!

Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving.

Lots of Pictures

These pictures are backwards from when they were taken. The first pictures were the last taken, and so forth. I have a hard time moving things around in Facebook. Sorry for the confusion, enjoy!

Hadley posing for the camera.

Cole with his big grin!

What beautiful view of the mountains from Tyler and Natalie's neighborhood.

Another gorgeous view!!

Here we are walking Tyler and Nat's dogs in Utah.

The "This Is The Place" monument.

Bridal Veil falls.

The view from the top of "Y" mountain.

This was a really steep hike, but well worth it. My muscles were so sore for a few days afterwards!

Such a perfect day for a hike! Sunny and cool, and snow sparkling everywhere!

Cole at his wrestling meet. He did great!

Cove Fort was fun to visit and learn about it's history. I wish I would have taken my camera inside! It was awesome.

Molly's birthday party and cake.

The girls covered their ears when we all sang "Happy Birthday". I guess that tells you how bad we sounded.

Molly had a fun party at the park!

Nolan had fun eating waffles!

Gary had fun cooking bacon, sausage, and eggs. Yumm!

Nolan was a cute Raggedy Andy for Halloween.

Molly was an adorable Raggedy Ann, and Marina was a perfect Pittsburgh Steelers cheerleader!

Gary and I were a Mountain Man and a Mountain Woman.

Reed, Andrea, and Lauryn were characters from Toy Story 2 - BoPeep, Woody, and Jessie the Cowgirl. It was fun helping them make their costumes!

Nolan was really happy at his Aunt Emily's wedding reception!

Becky played her violin at the reception. She's amazingly talented in so many ways!

Molly and Nolan relaxing in their double stroller.

Marina having fun with a friend at the reception.

Everyone at the end of the Treasure Hunt during our Labor Day camping trip!

Running for the next clue!

Eating hand-cranked ice cream in the mountains.

The dogs taking a nap in the sun. What a life!

Posing on the log are Heather, Ethan, and Gavin.

April is always working on Scouting stuff, even up camping!

Gary working on the two ice cream freezers. We won't tell you that he forgot to put the dasher in one of them!

I think all Marina wants for Christmas are her two front teeth!

Yum, eating Nolan's Birthday cake and ice cream!

Nolan turns 2! Happy Birthday to you!!
